Why Venetian Plaster

Venetian plaster is built up in multiple thin coats of trade-only mineral material, then worked and polished to bring out depth and tonal variation that a flat painted wall simply can't achieve. Marmorino, travertine-effect and other specialist mineral finishes each bring their own character.

It suits feature walls, media walls, salons, showrooms and full rooms where you want a wall that people actually stop and look at.

Why It Lasts

The prep is the reason it lasts

Getting the surface properly prepared before the finish goes on is what separates a result that looks incredible at ten years from one that looks tired at two. It's not what we lead with, but it's what everything else depends on.

Questions

Venetian Plaster, answered

What is the difference between Venetian plaster and marmorino?

Marmorino is a specific type of Venetian plaster made from slaked lime and marble dust, known for its soft, cloudy depth of colour. Venetian plaster is the broader family of polished mineral plasters that includes marmorino, travertine-effect and other specialist finishes.

How long does Venetian plaster last?

Correctly applied over a properly prepared wall, it can last decades. It's a mineral finish that hardens over time rather than a coating that wears off.

Is Venetian plaster expensive?

It costs more than standard paint because it's applied by hand in multiple layers using trade-only materials, but it's typically priced per room or per wall depending on the finish and texture chosen.

Can Venetian plaster be used in bathrooms?

Certain Venetian plaster and marmorino finishes can be sealed for bathroom use, though microcement is generally the better choice for fully wet, high-moisture zones like shower enclosures.

★★★★★

We recently got a feature wall completed by Calvin and I could not recommend more. The whole process was easy from start to finish and his attention to detail was second to none.
